“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
No one in our world today wants to be considered foolish or weak. In fact, many of the world’s population go to extreme lengths to convince you that they are smart, beautiful and perfect at all times. They resort to the use of plastic surgery to wipe away the wrinkles….and thus they choose to forgo the wisdom that is supposed to come along with gray hair for “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.”(Proverbs 16:31) In the insanely difficult task of trying to appear perfect by worldly standards, many people come off as looking more foolish then they did before they tried to fix their fallen state.
There are several people I know that get teased or looked down on, even (sadly) in Christian communities, about the things that should make them unique and beautiful—like the young lady who has two different sized feet, or the boy who is brilliant but lacks some social skills or the girl who gets teased about being homeschooled or the way she stutters when she speaks. How easy this world finds it to look down on those that don’t measure up to our standards.
Have you ever thought about what and who mankind considers to be wise, attractive and useful? We look to people like Oprah, Dr. Phil and the celebrities that walk down the red carpet in Hollywood. But what do they know anyway…?
“God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.”
1 Corinthians 1:21
God is above earthly wisdom. He uses the nobodies—the foolish and unwanted. He loves them. He made them. He doesn’t judge the outward weakness and the lack of mental capability. He looks at hearts–abilities instead of disabilities.
I’m tired of being judged instead of loved…Aren’t you?
I want to be more accepting. I want people to feel loved and important when they are with me. I want them to feel safe…I pray that God will use me in this way for the people around me. God let me be the one who loves….no matter what!
Don’t get down because someone doesn’t think you’re good enough. God has accepted you for who you are. Let that be enough. Let go. He, the God of the universe, your Savior, creator and friend, IS enough.
Rest in that. I’m right there with you.

I like what you said about how God accepts us! I’ve been thinking so much about being accepted by colleges…but it’s so cool to think that God has accepted me! Thanks for helping me see that in a new way!

I also really like your goal of wanting others to feel loved, important and safe when they’re around you…and I think you’re doing a great job!
